Start with what you actually need

Build your basket around the items you planned to buy. A minimum-spend discount can cost more if it encourages you to add things you do not need.

Compare the total, including delivery

Compare the same items and quantities, then add shipping, service charges and any other fees shown at checkout. A larger headline discount does not always produce a lower final total.

Check the code before paying

Read eligible-product and customer restrictions. Enter the code in the correct field, then confirm the discount appears in your order summary before completing the purchase.

Work through a small example

Suppose your planned basket is $40 and a code takes $10 off a $60 purchase. Adding $20 of unwanted items leaves you paying $50 before delivery, which is $10 more than the original basket. If those extra items are already on your shopping list, the comparison changes. This is an illustrative calculation, not a retailer offer.

Keep a record of the conditions

Before paying, read the product exclusions, minimum subtotal and permitted combinations. Save the retailer’s order confirmation and the conditions you relied on if you may need to ask about the transaction later. A copied code by itself does not prove that every item qualifies.
